CEGIS ProposalsIn 2006, the Center of Excellence for Geospatial Information Science (CEGIS) conducted a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Bureau-wide Prospectus to support research in Geospatial Information Science. In response to the Call for Proposals, CEGIS received 71 proposals. A rigorous two-stage review process was conducted with a panel of six groups of reviewers, each group with representation from the USGS disciplines, Biological Resources, Geology, Geography, Geospatial Information, and Water Resources. A CEGIS oversight group managed the review process and ranked the top 20 proposals based on the evaluations of the review groups. Following this ranking, the top 20 proposals were then reviewed by the Chief Scientists for each USGS Discipline. From the Chief Scientists´ review, the Associate Director for Geospatial Information agreed to fund the top seven proposals with fiscal year 2007 funds. Those seven proposals, as submitted, are available on this page as pdf files that may be viewed or downloaded.
